About the Program
The National Civic Leadership & Constitutional Literacy Program (NCLCLP) is a comprehensive middle and high school civic education initiative developed by the American Institute for Civic Leadership.
But this is not a curriculum designed once and placed on a shelf.
It is designed to evolve.
AICL combines rigorous constitutional and historical instruction with educator collaboration, classroom implementation, student engagement, visual learning tools, measurable feedback, civic application, and responsible use of emerging technology.
The program began with a foundational civic curriculum and has continued to expand through direct collaboration with educators and real-world classroom feedback.
That process has already taken the program from an early approximately 89-page framework, to a 121-page educator-refined middle and high school curriculum, and into an approximately 1,090-page sixth-grade instructional development system incorporating deeper lessons, teacher resources, visual learning materials, activities, assessments, and classroom-support tools.
The same development model is intended to be carried across grades 6–12.
Our objective is not simply to align with state academic standards.
Alignment is the starting point.
The goal is to build the strongest civic learning experience possible around those standards while preserving neutrality, academic rigor, constitutional literacy, teacher authority, and student critical thinking.
The program is built around three core pillars:

3. Real-World Civic Leadership & Engagement
We teach students how to think — not what to think.
A CURRICULUM THAT LEARNS
Traditional curriculum development often ends when the curriculum enters the classroom.
For AICL, that is where another stage begins.
Educators help identify what students need.
Classrooms reveal what works.
Student learning and engagement provide evidence.
Feedback helps identify gaps.
New resources are developed.
The curriculum returns to the classroom stronger than before.
That cycle can repeat year after year and grade after grade.
The result is a living educational system designed to improve through responsible, evidence-informed classroom experience.
