Mission Statement
The mission of the American Institute for Civic Leadership is to strengthen America’s civic future by equipping students with constitutional understanding, disciplined reasoning skills, and the character required to participate thoughtfully, respectfully, and effectively in a constitutional democracy.
What We Do
Through the National Civic Leadership & Constitutional Literacy Program, the American Institute for Civic Leadership is building an evolving grades 6–12 civic education system grounded in constitutional literacy, American history, critical thinking, civil discourse, civic leadership, and Responsible AI.
The curriculum is developed with educators and strengthened through classroom experience, student engagement, assessment, and structured feedback.
Students do more than study how government works.
They learn to evaluate evidence, understand competing perspectives, reason from constitutional principles, develop civic solutions, communicate respectfully, and participate responsibly.
Our guiding educational principle is simple:
TEACH STUDENTS HOW TO THINK — NOT WHAT TO THINK.
Students learn:
• How the American system of government works
• How to reason from constitutional principles
• How to debate respectfully and analytically
• How to evaluate competing viewpoints
• How to propose real-world civic solutions

BUILT DIFFERENTLY
The curriculum does not stop developing when it reaches a classroom.
It gets better because it reached one.
What began as an approximately 89-page foundational curriculum grew through educator collaboration into a 121-page middle and high school curriculum.
That same foundation has since been expanded through deeper sixth-grade development into approximately 1,090 pages of curriculum and supporting instructional resources.
Now AICL is working to apply that same development model across grades 6–12.
